The Youth Ministry at St. John the Evangelist Church is a vibrant and engaging program designed to meet the spiritual, social, and developmental needs of middle and high school students within the parish community. This ministry aims to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where young people can grow in their faith and form meaningful connections with their peers and the Church.

Purpose & Mission

The primary purpose of the Youth Ministry is to engage young people in grades 6 through 12 in activities that nurture their spiritual growth and encourage active participation in the life of the Church. The mission of this ministry is to provide a dynamic and inclusive setting that supports the personal and spiritual development of each young person, helping them to discover and live out their Catholic faith!

Activities & Services

The Youth Ministry offers a variety of activities and services, including:

  • Youth Group Meetings: Regular meetings that include discussions, prayer time, and faith-based activities designed to deepen the youths' understanding of Catholic teachings.
  • Social Events: Activities such as outings, sports events, and social gatherings that promote fellowship and community among the youth.
  • Service Projects: Opportunities to engage in community service and outreach projects that reflect the values of the Gospel and the mission of the Church.

These activities typically occur on a regular basis throughout the school year, providing consistent opportunities for youth to engage with the ministry and each other.

Audience & Beneficiaries

The intended audience for the Youth Ministry includes:

  • Middle School Students (Grades 6-8): Young adolescents who are beginning to deepen their understanding of their faith and their role in the community.
  • High School Students (Grades 9-12): Teenagers who are looking to further integrate their faith into their daily lives and decisions.

Significance & Impact

The Youth Ministry is crucial for the parish as it plays a key role in the faith formation of its younger members. By providing a space where youth can explore and express their faith, the ministry helps to cultivate a new generation of engaged and faithful Catholics. Success stories from the ministry often include increased participation in parish life, deeper personal relationships with God, and a strong sense of community among the youth.
