2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Read this week's bulletin to see the latest from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Dear Women of St. John Parish,
St. John Paul II was fond of speaking of the “feminine genius,” the profound gifts that the feminine heart offers the world. Beyond what women are able to give, he recognized the unique ways in which the feminine heart images and relates to the Holy Trinity. The gift of the feminine heart flowers from the unique ways in which she is able to receive from God.
It is an unfortunate truth in our lives that these channels of receptivity often become blocked, whether by the busyness of life, trauma, brushes with sin, or more.
Women, I invite you to pause and consider, where is your heart in this season?
Are you operating from a place of rest, or do you find your heart buried by busyness? Are you able to offer your heart in freedom as a gift to others, or do past wounds affect your current relationships? Are you able to hear God’s voice speaking love and peace, or has He seemed distant or quiet?
Last weekend you heard Michelle Hall speak of the profound healing and renewal she experienced at a previous Undone Conference. I invited her to share her story because I believe that her story can be yours as well.
It is by God’s providence that this national retreat is being hosted in our own backyard next week and, as your Pastor, I humbly invite you to attend. You will not regret making the space for God to love and heal your heart.
Men of St. John, and husbands in particular, I invite you to encourage the women in your life to attend and help make this logistically possible.
God is about good things here. May we offer him the time and space to receive all that He desires to give.
Peace.
-Fr. Kennell
